Marci passed away 03-16-05

These three Senior LH Chihuahuas are permanently here with us at Second Chance. Another rescue asked for emergency assistance to take in these girls who were in dire need of vet care ~ none were spayed or up to date on shots. After their dentals were complete only Debra had teeth left!

We had them flown counter to counter non stop into New York from Missouri.

Martha was 10 years old and had a hernia the size of a fist. When she was spayed the vet found *another* hernia inside on the other side. She is doing fine and a real sweet little girl. She has a bad heart and is on medication daily.

Marci was 10-1/2 years old and such a darling senior lady. Due to the severe heart condition, my vet felt it would be too risky to put her under for surgery. Marci is on daily medication for a heart condition.

Debra was 6 years old and has irritable bowel syndrome and is on daily medication.  She is still hand shy, but knows to come get her pill in cream cheese.

We wish to acknowledge with deep gratitude the assistance given us by Jean Ensor in Missouri!  Without her help we could never have gotten these girls safely to NY!.

Emma Lee is a little Bichon girl who was rescued from Yonkers and now lives in with a wonderful lady,  Marie LaPorte in Rhode Island

Munchkin was wandering the streets on the NJ shore and brought into the shelter. The staff fell in love with this tiny little senior guy and contacted us. He's a ten year old  black male Pomeranian with just the sweetest personality. He bounced around like a puppy. We were there the next day to bring him back to New York....he was vetted and is now living with another one of our adopters in New York.

Adopted by Joan & family in Westchester County. NY

Adopted by Audrie In Brooklyn, NY

Sarah leaves the NY shelter! Sarah & new Dad Jim live in Ohio

Molly Susanna and Keri both came from Maryland.
Special thanks to Arlene Rielle for fostering and placing Molly and Keri in loving homes.

Magic and BonBon were rescued together from a Long Island, NY shelter.

Darling little BonBon had a left head tilt and mammary cancer. She went through two surgeries of having a complete mastectomy. She was doing so well, but only 4 months after healing from the surgeries, BonBon had a severe seizure and we had to let her go in peace. BonBon was deeply loved and is dearly missed.

Magic had no bottom jaw bone, but was with us for two years before he passed away in 2003 at age 12

Max  was rescued out of southern New Jersey and was scared of everyone. Max the Pomeranian was adopted by Michon who volunteered as a dog walker for the rescues at the kennel. He became very attached to her and finally she got to take him home

Several months later we had another little scared Shih Tzu boy who was also named Max at the kennel. Michon went to see him all the time and he began to trust her. Now Max the Pom and Muffin (a/k/a Max) the Shih Tzu live happily together with Michon and her husband.

Many thanks to Linda Jobson of Colby Kennels for fostering Max and working with him to regain his trust and placing him in a wonderful home!

Oreo was a Shih Tzu in a NY kill shelter and his time was up. We got him out immediately when we heard. He was a frisky little guy who found the perfect home with a young couple who had another Shih Tzu and now lives  with Joey and Colleen in New Jersey.

Darling sweet Hanna was the first rescue I took from NYC CACC. She was terrified  and was going to be put to sleep because she would snap if you went near the cage. She sat in my lap all the way home and became the most loving kind soul who never wanted anything but to be loved. Hanna was adopted to a fantastic home in New Jersey where she lives with her little Chi friend and they both sleep in the bed under the covers together with new mom Cheryl.

Patti got an urgent call about 2 Chihuahua's that needed immediate placement . When she got there, she found three big Chihuahuas

Lolita was rescued out of Yonkers with the other two Chihuahua's. The two got placed together but dear Lolita they could not take.

She was placed in a home and came back into rescue . She was taken to the vet because she was limping and the vet found that Lolita had cancer in her toe and it would have to be removed.

When Carol contacted me to tell me about the passing of Andy (the blind Yorkie she has adopted 3 yrs ago) I told her about Lolita and that she was special needs and deaf. Carol now has Lolita and she is doing great. Finally she has her forever home in Monticello, NY.

Sam, is a 2 1/2 year old Chihuahua.   Sadly the owner of little Sam was going to have to find him a new home.  She was diagnosed with cancer. It was becoming increasingly difficult for her to care for Sammy.

Patti  picked up Sammy on December 7th and has a new loving home with a gentleman in Cold Springs, NY, who had just lost his pet to old age. It was a perfect match for Sammy and his new Dad.

Casey came to us from a Maryland shelter as she was in need of mammary tumor surgery. Even though we found out she did have cancer, a friend of Joannie's fell in love with her and she has gotten the best of care and we are sure Casey will have many more years in her new Mommy's loving arms.

Teddy is a beautiful Chocolate Pomeranian only 3 1/2 pounds. He found his forever home with Liz in Pelham, NY. He is truly king of the castle at his new home.

This is Tippy in his new home totally relaxed sleeping after playing with all his Christmas toys. Tippy lives with Barbara in Tomkins Cove, NY.

After his previous adoptive owner had to have triple by-pass surgery he was unable to care for Lucky, so he was returned to rescue. Because of Lucky's issues he had to stay in a kennel. We boarded Lucky from October 2001 until the day he was adopted on May 2nd 2002.  One of the girls that volunteer at the kennel to walk the rescue dogs, became so attached to Lucky (she all ready had a Lhasa Apso and knew their temperament). Lucky finally went to his forever home with that special someone *we both* were waiting for ~ a special young lady that worked with him for months and won over his affection and trust.

Special thanks to Linda Jobson of Colby Kennels, Vails Gate, NY and Michele of Canine Sanctuary for assisting in the placement of Lucky.

I named him P.J. for "Pure Joy",  because he was such a special little boy that came to me from Maryland. My friend Michel fell in love with him and took PJ home. Later on we found out every now and then he would have seizures. There was a lovely friend of Michel's who came to take P.J. to the park and for a ride in her car every week. She was truly in love with P.J. and he looked so forward to her visits. Since we both felt he should be in a home where he is the only pet, because of his seizures, I told Michel to let her friend adopt him. He has his own personal saftey harness and car seat to ride in the car. P.J. is the happiest little guy and unbelievably spoiled!
